A few wonderful quotes from C.S. Lewis – a prolific author and man who set out to disprove God and in his quest ended up instead coming to the reality of the opposite – God is real and did manifest himself as Jesus Christ.

C.S. Lewis
“A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word ‘darkness’ on the walls of his cell.”
“You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.”
“Education without values, as useful as it is, seems rather to make man a more clever devil.”
“Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person’s ultimate good as far as it can be obtained.”

Suicides Soar Among U.S. Military Personnel
http://news.yahoo.com/suicides-mental-health-woes-soar-since-start-iraq-225925137–abc-news.html
Apparently the rate of suicide is up 80% among army personnel between the years 2004-2008. “The rise parallels increasing rates of depression, anxiety and other mental health conditions in soldiers, the study said….The vast majority of the suicides since 2004 were by men; and 69 percent had seen active combat duty. Nearly half were between ages 18 and 24. And 54 percent of those who committed suicide were from among the lower ranks of enlisted personnel.”
My heart breaks for everyone involved in the story of the Army Staff Sgt accused of killing 16 Afghan civilians. As details surface, it’s becoming clear that Robert Bales was suffering from PTSD having done three previous tours in Iraq.
A father of two, his life and the lives of his family members are utterly destroyed as well as the lives of the Afghan families whose loved ones he murdered.
I know we have quite a few customers who have family members in the military…please watch out for your loved ones. PTSD is an incredibly serious and very real mental disturbance with serious consequences. If not treated properly, the affects can be lifelong. Obviously, it doesn’t always lead to a massacre but it can still destroy the life of the sufferer, destroys marriages, and can even lead to suicide. If you have a loved one in the military and especially if they have seen active duty, please learn the signs and symptoms of PTSD. A Patch of Sunlilght
Below is a re-posting of an anecdotal story from Red Elk, an Inter-Tribal Medicine Man. I found it to be touching and truthful. Enjoy!
Folks, as most know by now, I see through “different eyes.”
On my way home a few minutes ago, with my youngest grandson, he suddenly exclaimed “WOW! Look at THAT!”
He was pointing towards a field of Sunlit ground…while all around it, except that area, was covered in “shadowy” overcast… MILES of it!
I said: “He smiles in the darkness.”
“What do you mean grandpa?”
“Son, it is as if He has given light in a world of sadness and despair. All the shadow area, to me, is like the world all about us. Only a few see the Smiling Light of His Greatness and Love. That small patch of sunlight is like His wonderous Smile in this dark world. That is what I “see.” Do you understand?”
He thought, then quietly replied …..”Yes, grandpa, I do.”
Friends, this sharing is for you…to instantly COMPARE God’s WORD with All the “events” about you. Do YOU understand?
ho, Red Elk

Australian children to be sterilized without parental consent under new eugenics law
I realize our last few blog titles make us sound somewhat alarmist. Fear mongering isn’t the objective here. However, it’s foolish and irresponsible to ignore draconian legislation that so blatantly violates human rights.
You can access the WAMHC Mental Health Bill 2011 here: http://www.mentalhealth.wa.gov.au
The Government of Western Australia’s Mental Health Commission(WAMHC) has basically conjured up a proposal for new mental health legislation that bypasses parental involvement in the mental health treatment process, and instead tasks children under age 18, and of any age, with making the decision about whether or not to be sterilized, or whether or not to have their brain tissue destroyed with psychosurgery procedures. If a “mental health professional” can convince children that they need such treatments for their own good, than Australia’s youngest members of society will be open game for the eugenicist agenda.
It sounds an awful lot like the euthanasia programs that emerged in Germany during the 1930s, when Nazis began secretly sterilizing individuals with physical or mental disabilities as part of “Operation T4″ (http://fcit.usf.edu/holocaust/people/victims.htm). This eugenics program was later intensified, of course, when German physicians at Nazi death camps routinely sterilized men, women, and children, and later killed them, as part of the Nazi regime’s utterly revolting ethnic cleansing experiments (http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Holocaust/aumed.html).

Medical Ethics Journal Says Killing Newborns Should Be Legal Just Like Abortion
Yeah, if I hadn’t read it myself, I wouldn’t believe it. This article in the Journal of Medical Ethics was published online on 2/23/12. Here is the abstract directly from the journal article itself.
Abstract
Abortion is largely accepted even for reasons that do not have anything to do with the fetus’ health. By showing that (1) both fetuses and newborns do not have the same moral status as actual persons, (2) the fact that both are potential persons is morally irrelevant and (3) adoption is not always in the best interest of actual people, the authors argue that what we call ‘after-birth abortion’ (killing a newborn) should be permissible in all the cases where abortion is, including cases where the newborn is not disabled.
Maybe we should ask our pediatricians if they’ve seen this article? See how they feel about infanticide and how does it reconcile with their Hippocratic oath to “do no harm.” The Journal of Medical Ethics is a respected peer reviewed journal that is influential in setting guidelines for practicing physicians. So I would really like to know where my own doctor stands on this INSANE perspective. My guess is that most would balk at the idea and say well this is nothing more than an intellectual argument, blah blah blah. They would never actually go this far. But that’s not necessarily the point. I think the far more salient point is that there are people in influential places in the field of medicine who are actually arguing the acceptability of infanticide. Truly what is the reason for this??? How can the motivation be anything other than eugenics?

Convicted sex offenders as adoptive parents
A ‘brilliant’ legal mind in the UK is arguing for the right of sex offenders to be adoptive parents. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/conservative/8201521/Sex-offenders-including-paedophiles-should-be-allowed-to-adopt-Theresa-May-told.html#.Tz_dyK7lzH8.facebook Her argument being that “despite growing public concern over paedophilia, the numbers of child sex murders are very low.” Well, in that case….I feel much better. Wait, what??? That statement makes my skin crawl – one child sex murder is too many. Not only that but to say it’s really not all that common is totally inaccurate. Child sex murders along with child and human slave trafficking are notoriously under reported crimes and for obvious reason….the victims are the most vulnerable of society. They have no voice and even if they are heard many are not even believed. This is also a crime that runs rampant through some of the highest levels of society and government and, therefore, is rife with coverups. The children most often targeted are on the fringe of society, low income, in foster care, runaways, etc. These are not the kids who make headlines or capture media attention.
The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) states the statistics as such: Over 2,100 children go missing every day in the U.S. 800,000 are reported missing each year and another 500,000 go missing annually which are not reported. That’s well over a million missing / unaccounted for children every year in the U.S. alone. You don’t have this many disappearances without some systemic complicity. And though we don’t know where these kids are and what exactly has happened to them, we can at least be certain that something sinister is going on. A majority are living a life on the street, sucked into organized crime and many of them put into the human trafficking trade.
Penn State scratches the surface of what goes on behind closed doors of some of society’s most ‘respected’ institutions. Sandusky was the founder of The Second Mile – a charity for at-risk children, from which he sourced the bulk of his victims. Is every childrens’ charity a front for sex abuse and trafficking? Of course not and this isn’t about being paranoid, it’s about being realistic. Not everything is as it seems and with over a million kids disappearing every year, something stinks. The Vatican is another good example of systemic complicity but it’s not the only place this goes on…it’s only the lightening rod for the bulk of the attention. It’s naive to think this is the only institution guilty of paedophilia coverup.
Another reason these crimes are so easy to hide is our willingness, as a society, to stick our head in the sand. http://www.sott.net/articles/show/237680-Child-Abuse-Why-People-So-Often-Look-the-Other-Way
I would encourage anyone to do their own research into government / institutional cover up of child sex abuse and murder. Here are a few links:

What can be done about this? I’m not sure. Although I know a good place to start is simple awareness. In the very least, we as parents, should be extremely vigilant about the teachers, coaches, caregivers, etc. our children come into contact with. We assume that the schools are doing thorough background checks but often this is not the case. Here is a link to the National Registry of Sex Offenders: http://www.nsopw.gov/Core/PublicRegistrySites.aspx
This is a directory that will take you to each state’s sex offender registry page. On the main page of www.nsopw.gov, there is a search function that allows you to run searches by name.
